Partnership and involvement...
In developing The Trafford Centre Travel Plan we are seeking to build a commitment to a change in travel behaviour from all users of the Centre. This will be a step by step process rather than a sudden implementation of new measures. It will benefit no one if we seek to enforce new measures which are unpopular or may have a negative effect on the desire to travel to The Trafford Centre. Ideally, therefore, the Travel Plan must encourage each of us to make the most effective and appropriate choice for our journey. This will be achieved by making travel to The Trafford Centre easier through increased accessibility - allowing us to try new travel modes, and having the freedom and information to be able to make choices on the way we wish to travel. The Trafford Centre Travel Plan has therefore been developed under the principles of ‘partnership’ and ‘involvement’, aiming to encourage individuals to ‘join in’ with the scheme as it provides tangible benefits.
An integrated approach...
Our Travel Plan has been designed to provide further opportunities, which will promote travel choice and encourage changes in travel behaviour. This will be achieved by providing a co-ordinated approach to transport issues at The Trafford Centre and the integration of different travel modes, with the goal being to provide a ‘seamless’ journey to and from The Trafford Centre. The initiatives in the Travel Plan are therefore to be developed as part of a sustainable strategy at The Trafford Centre, which will concentrate measures on the basis of the following transport issues:
• Improving information and awareness
• Improving public transport accessibility
• Improving walking and cycling access
• Encouraging more efficient car use.
