The Trafford Centre is committed to achieving the goals of integrated and sustainable travel. We are determined to continue to encourage a wide range of modes of travel to the Centre and provide opportunities for all employees and visitors to make changes to their travel behaviour. The development of The Trafford Centre Travel Plan demonstrates our commitment to sustainable travel modes and is a positive response to the challenge for integrated transport set out by the Government. We believe that The Trafford Centre Travel Plan will prove to be a successful tool in helping to achieve our transportation objectives and targets. Through the measures and initiatives to be developed as part of the Plan, we are confident that we can sustain and develop our business aims whilst encouraging more environmentally friendly modes of transport, thus achieving an overall better environment for employees and visitors. As part of this commitment to sustainable transport, we have made the following pledges, which we will pursue through the development of the Travel Plan
• To continue to actively encourage the use of a wide range of non-car based travel modes for journeys to and from The Trafford Centre.
• To ensure that lack of access to the private car will not be a barrier to access to The Trafford Centre, therefore promoting a wide range of travel options for all potential employees and visitors.
• To encourage improvement of existing public transport routes and services to The Trafford Centre by achieving a high quality, integrated network for the benefit of both employees and visitors.
• To offer a wider choice of public transport modes to The Trafford Centre, through the provision of improved connections to existing transport interchanges (public transport ‘Gateways’) and the assessment of major infrastructure provision.
• To encourage increased cycling and walking access to The Trafford Centre through the improvement of the dedicated network of safe and convenient routes.
• To encourage the more efficient use of those private car trips that are made to The Trafford Centre.
• To continue to support the strategic road network serving The Trafford Centre to maintain a high standard of access, particularly for alternative road-based travel modes.
